A graduate of the Danish School of Journalism, Nicolai Fuglsig only came to directing after an extremely successful career in photojournalism. Among other things, he won the Kodak Prize for the world’s best photographer under the age of 30.

While photographing and reporting on the war in Kosovo, Fuglsig made his first foray into filmmaking and used these images to create a 15-minute poem about the war: Return of the Exiled. The documentary short film was shown on Danish television and in selected Danish cinemas.

In 2000, Fuglsig gave up photojournalism to concentrate on filmmaking. Since then, Nicolai has received over 200 awards for his work as a commercial film director, including 4 Emmy nominations from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which he won in 2013. Among his many commercial clients are Samsung, Guiness, Nike, Sony, Kia and Hyundai.

In 2017, Fuglsig directed his first major studio film for Warner Bros, 12 Strong, starring Chris Hemsworth and Michael Shannon. He is currently working on a number of feature film and TV projects.
